That's got me thinking...

I followed Tony's link about the 109 build in the garage. That's kind of got me thinking...oh dear here we go...
If somebody decides to build a warbird from the original plans using the same materials or modern day substitutes and authentic parts where ever they can find them then:
1. How much of the aircraft has to be authentic to be called a restoration as opposed to a replica and do the majority of these parts have to come from a single original aircraft?
2. What modifications have to be made to the aircraft to gain air worthiness in the UK? I assume all original building standards and requirements have been met.
3. Has anybody in the UK attempted a similar project to the guys in the US (a home based project)?
Please forgive my ignorance on this subject but I'm very interested to learn more.
Regards,
Graham.
