Converting a Lanc into a Manchester, would that be........

When you look at the present situation regarding the Lancaster population, you can conclude this to be rather healty. There are several airframes on display covering the main versions, a few real veterans and two airworthy ones and one nearly so.
Suppose you have the substantial remains of a Lancaster, and you were planning to restore it as a Manchester by shortening the spacing of the outer wing ribs, finding some Vultures, but at least forming the cowlings, fitting smaller wheels and there you have it, a Manchester.
Bottom line is: would the entire warbird movement fall over you, for mutilating a valuable Lancaster?
