Stuart,

You probably mean Lake Holen, and yes there is an awfully large amount of Stirling bits in there, in fact 26 of them. Aircraft came down and probably broke up into sections. It is now buried unde a metres thick layer of polluted mud thanks to the sawmill located on the bank of the lake. It seemed that divers had irritated eyes when they came out the water.

The reason they stopped work on this one is because some crewmembers are still missing. So they called it a wargrave (don't they ever learn). The website of the RAF Sub aqua club has all the details about this investigation (don't have the webaddress at the moment, but Paul does I think).

They are now scouring Scandinavia for other Stirlings, they have also approached if we knew some in Holland, I just pointed towards the IJsselmeer.

If you ask me they should recover the Lake Holen stirling and try to find the missing aircrew. Then put the 26 sectins together again with luck.

Cees
