Hi Paul,

That's right, the Spitfire came from Loch Doon and was recovered in the early eighties, I think they are rebuilding it now. The wings are said to be beyond restoration, hope they don't scrap them though.

I have heard the story about the Loch Ness Defiant too, but never could find any confirmation. There was this story in FlyPast some years ago about a ditched Defiant in another lake but the gunner went down with it.
