I agree with you to an extent, but I don't think all wrecks should be recovered. They are very poinginat memorials, especially when still quite complete. Unfortunately the biggest problem is souvenier hunters. The Hudson on Ben Lui for instance could be left as a memorial - it is quite a common type, it is reasonably complete and is representative of an early operational aircraft and crew (it was on an anti-sub sortie in 1941).
Of course unless the MoD will not grant a licence (even with their ultra strict new regime) someone will probably remove great chunks of it which will be a pity, but that's people for you.
While it's difficult to monitor and regulate crash sites, if everyone in the archaeology scene agreed it was good idea to maintain a site in it's original state then it might just work as it's notoriously difficult to do anything in secrecy...
