Elliott
I remember reading a story about a factory building DB605's which was relocated to a salt mine. The salt and humiditiy didn't help the manufacturing process very much, causing corrosion to the precision tools, especially with the very close tolerances needed. Also the supply of high grade materials such as copper, nickel etc was getting less and less so they had to use substitute materials which did not help reliability either.
Apart from that there were also cases of sabotage by the workers who mostly were forced labourers. I remember a story about how these workers used to p*ss into the oiltanks during manufacture which weakened the welds causing leakage. If this story is based on actual facts I don't know.
