Tony:
Lake Havasu (and Lake Havasu city) are located in the border of the states of Arizona and California. It is approximately 65 miles north of interstate 10, the highway that crossed the USA from Florida to California. As the crow flies, Havasu is probably some 1500 to 1600 miles from where I live, in Houston.
Given the past issues with regards to ownership of former military aircraft, I would guess that the same red tape would apply here. Easiest way to find out would be to contact the dive shop (your posting) and ask them, why no one has gotten the "Sulfato" (this is a new term for you, for the P-47) out of the lake waters.
Who is filling up gas tanks? I filled mine today, but I had a long drive, otherwise gas is plentiful, and so far, cheap. Air tanks? No, unless you have a perfect seal, no gas mask is going to save your behind from any nasty micro-particle-chem or bio hazard.
Saludos!
