Although as far as I can remember, I have always liked airplanes, and I remember the roar of T-6s, A-26s and P-51s flying overhead in my native Guatemala, what did it for me, was a rebellion that caught me in my father's hometown when I was barely 8 years old. There was combat, the Mustangs and the Invaders, straffed and bombed the location. I kept running out, to see the machines in action. I saw the dirt being kicked when the bullets struck close to where I was staying. Soon after, and to this day, my personal favorite has been the P-51, the sound of the engine at full power, always brings tears to my eyes. It never fails. Some times I feel silly, but I can't help the feeling. Understanding and knowledge brought other warbirds into awareness, but the all time favorite, is the "cincuenta y uno" (51).
Saludos!
