Hmmmn.....deep question, and a darn good one Karen.
While most little kids were getting bedtime stories, my dad used to sit on the edge of my bed with picture books of WWII airplanes and I'd name them off as he flipped the pages. I think that's where it started, then it was developed further by sitting in front of the TV building plastic model Corsairs while watching the old "Baa Baa Blacksheep" tv show in the seventies, and by sixteen I was neck deep in the rebuilding of a Stearman duster back to original with my dad, flying it three years later.
(Thank God dad wasn't a car nut!)
