I can imagine that a nation that has suffered terribly under the hands of the Germans would go a long way to preserve anything that they had captured to serve as a momento to show anyone how that same nation has conquered their enemy and be proud enough of it to keep large numbers of equipment so as not to forget what happened.
Furthermore if it is true that several aircraft factories in Russia have examples of captured German aircraft, which possibly were used to evaluate the state of technology and incorporate it into their own aircraft, then why not keep some of these for their own collection. I know that Yakolev has a small collection of their earlier aircraft types. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
