It amazes me how many aviation experts there are in the news media... Seems to be more than there are in the entire aerospace industry!

It takes months if not years for FAA and aerospace industry experts to properly fact find and make conclusions regarding an air crash, yet the media seems to solve these all on the day they happen.

Simply amazing...and so irresponsible and thoughtless for the families of those that are the victims.

The C-130 is a rugged bird, but planes are only as safe as they are today because of what we have learned from previous accidents. Hopefully the lessons learned will prevent countless future tragedies.

: Just saw on local news that a C-130 Fire Bomber went down
: in Northern California about an hour ago. Both wings fail
: ed upwards and seperated, the fuselage rolled to the left
: and impacted the ground(probably upside down), killing all
: three occupants. It was just coming off the end of a pas
: s. I heard some aviation "expert" on the news say it was
: obviously "metal fatigue due to the age of the aircraft, o
: r corrosion that had been allowed to go unchecked!" I hav
: e spent many glourious hours in the mighty Herk, it hurts
: to see them go down. That makes three this year, Counting
: the MC-130 that went down (killing two of my fellow loadm
: asters) in Afghanistan last week and the Marine KC-130 tha
: t went down in Pakistan a few months back.
