Just saw on local news that a C-130 Fire Bomber went down in Northern California about an hour ago. Both wings failed upwards and seperated, the fuselage rolled to the left and impacted the ground(probably upside down), killing all three occupants. It was just coming off the end of a pass. I heard some aviation "expert" on the news say it was obviously "metal fatigue due to the age of the aircraft, or corrosion that had been allowed to go unchecked!" I have spent many glourious hours in the mighty Herk, it hurts to see them go down. That makes three this year, Counting the MC-130 that went down (killing two of my fellow loadmasters) in Afghanistan last week and the Marine KC-130 that went down in Pakistan a few months back.
