I know Will,
and when I see High performance racing engines, being built from scratch, for $25,000 or less, and developing the same BHP as a Merlin and beyond, it makes me wonder, especially, as the drawings machine tolerances and specs etc, are still available for Merlins and Packard 66's, Reverse engineering has come on a hell of a way in the last 5 years. Automotive engineering has as well, especially Formula 1. Are there any engine specialists in house, who can give me a good reason why I can't build Merlins from scratch, and bring them in at an affordable price?

Remember, we are talking about an aero-engine designed in the 30's and produced 60 years ago. Are we suggesting , it is beyond the wit of Man to build powerplants? How much would Rolls charge for the licence, possibly very little, but their royalties would be a bit strong,(I think)

As far as i am aware, Engine manufacture, in this enlightened age, is getting simpler and quicker. i really would like to hear what the Owners think, or are u happy to keep paying what the engine restorers ask, until all we can afford, is restorations from the firewall back?

Oh and Tony, u forgot the 100+ Mustangs in your list :0)
