Exposure to radiation is dangerous through time, repeated exposures or intensity. I doubt that the amount of radioactive material on their instruments would expose you to an excessive amount. If you plan to stay in the cockpit for a few days, sure, you could get some increased levels of radiation.

But also remember that every day, we are exposed to radiation from the sun, from other natural sources, and other types of radio-waves: microwaves, radio signals, weather radars (doppler are very powerful and used on a daily basis by TV stations everywhere); fluorescent lighting, computer screens, cellular phones, and the list goes on and on.

I believe they just don't want to let you see the airplane from the inside.
