You're right about the slight differences between the Tiffie cowl and the Tempest....although from what I can see the front part of the cowl (the difficult part as far I can tell) is the same!!!

As for MN235 the cowl is not its original (along with a Truck radiator cut down to look like the tiffie). When it arrived back in 1968 this was missing, along with most of the engine cowls. 27MU at Shawbury made duplicates. I do not know how they managed this....although there may have been the majority of a Tiffie remaining at a techinical college....composite of 3...but this was destroyed around this time!!! I believe that it is on the rota for restoration sometime after their Tempest arrives back....having looked at it closely it is starting to look alittle rough these days.

Can't wait to see the pics of 693 Tom....is there any way that I could get a copy of them? I have also tried to get some measurements from the monocoque cockpit section of 693 (the lengths of some of the tubes) as all of these behind the first firewall are the same as the Tiffie. I have been unable to at the moment as engineers are so busy....do you know if these measurements would be available? (I have the specs for these tubes) If you get the chance mail me as it would be very helpful to get some of your experiences with 693 which would help me on my cockpit!!!

Dave
