If this is to be a static replica of the Whirlwind built with limited resources I would think seriously about using precious resources recovering items that may be of little use and may never be seen because they are hidden away - especially if you decide to go the composite route.

Also it would be a good idea to adapt a restoration policy - I have seen some of these applied to other projects at the outset and it sets in stone what you are and are not attempting to do. Right now this may be said by some to be a waste of time but three years down the road it would be a good document to refer to!
