Thanks Paul,
I am doing more research on my uncle Holden Richardson. I just found an article that says, Holden was the fifth Navy Officer to solo, and the Navy's first engineering test pilot.
When the first N-C flying boat was finished in 1917, Holden took her on her maiden voyage. He invented the Catapult, and flew NC-3 on her trans atlantic flight. What does NC stand for?
He was induted in the Naval Hall of Fame in 1978.
I always knew Holden was an important Naval Aviator, but I am only just beginning to learn how many contributions he really made.
I just read a passage that said he received the official designation of, Naval Aviator # 13. Is that significant?
Thanks again!
KGT
