It was the 109 that had a horizontally split wing construction Christer.

There was also a British all metal, twin merlin engined aeroplane which had a similar 'horizontal split half' wing construction. Can't remember the manufacturer tonight, too much red wine. I think it was a high altitude interceptor which didn't go into production and was dubbed the metal mozzie. Wasn't DH, Avro, Handley page....... Westland?
