Thanks for the thoughts Tony....as for the Whirlwind I was talking to a researcher based down Devon way and he mentioned that a nose cone was owned by a collector in Cornwall somewhere....a pretty good start if he can be tracked down. I have asked him todig out the info from his research for me so I will ask him again. He is probably the guy who posted the message about P6994!!! Victor Bingham gave me that name of the ship involved and the records say that it was sunk. However there are sightings of it at Pensacola and the UAAAF sent a request to Westlands for maintenance documents. I asked before about Archives and it was this request that I was wondering about....at least it would prove once and for all that the Whirlwind made it to the States at least. Knowing the States it is probably holed up on some farm somewhere!!!
p.s. do you have any info on the 'Sabre' buried at Castle Brom? I thought everything there was RR or Spitfire?
