Engines bearers & firewall on scottish farm....

A friend of mine found a pair of the above on a farm in the arse end of no-where. He thought they were from a Whitley because 'they look old and primitive in construction' - really! No pics I'm afraid at the moment but I'll try and get some at some stage.
Anyway, the numbers are:
E973-9
E970-34
1SS 157 or ISS 157
There is also an N in a circle
Mossie was 98 with a letter prefix i.e. E for wing parts - could this be another DH product? Hornet?? Not my area - anyone have any ideas?
