I suppose there's a chance it might be a divable site. Too bad salt water has such devestating effects on aluminum or the ocean would probably yield enough restorable warplanes to reoutfit the Air Force.
On occasion I recall that color stock WWII footage of the B-29 ditching a few hundred yards off the coast of some island in the SoPac. You know, the one where the GI's are scrambling in the foreground to get a look at the water landing? I'm pretty sure the military wouldn't go out of their way to recover that plane from salt water, which would mean that somewhere there should be a hell of a B-29 dive site just a few hundred feet offshore :) Does anyone have an idea where that footage was filmed?
