Five Spitfires were converted to floatplanes, one MkI, three MkV, one MkIX.
Type 342, MkIA R6722,
converted but never flew as floatplane, de-converted to normal MkIA spec, to 54Sqn, damaged by BF109, converted later to MkVA spec, to Royal Navy as trainer, returned to RAF 30.01.45 and presumably scrapped.
Type 355, MkVB's W3760, EP751, EP754,
sent to Great Bitter Lake,Egypt, saw no action, back to Blighty summer 44, all struck off charge 28.12.44 and presumably scrapped.
Type 385, MkIX MJ892,
used for trials at Beaumaris,Wales, de-converted to normal MkIX spec, struck off charge 22.11.45 and presumably scrapped.
So, no Brandon, good try but none sunk anywhere. However, if one had sunk in the Great Bitter Lake there would (probably)be virtually nothing left of it now as W3760 had to have a new tail section sent out from GB because corrosion was rife in the airframe.
Not much hope for anything else that may have been lost in the lake either, sadly.
