Unidentified bomber on Barra off the coast of Scotland

This aircraft has probably been discussed here before, but I don't remember seeing it.
I was reading a pretty interesting weblog, and it contained this entry about the wreckage of an American bomber near Barra off the coast of Scotland. Does anybody have any information as to what kind of plane it is, how much is left, etc.
The site is a pretty fascinating read. It chronicles the journies of Patrick Malone as he flies around the globe.
