My Swedish is not so good, so I cannot claim to have seen every CR.42 article published in Sweden. However, I have been following that wreckage for about 15 years now and was among those which collected the wreckage at Malmslatt on 27 or 28 May 1994.

There never was any doubt that the centre section was recovered from a crash site (photos have been published in Italy circa 1988), together with other components including the fin (again, photos have been published with the recovery helicopter in the background). No one at the museum ever described any of these and other components as coming from one of the civil registered machines, which apparently were just scrapped. I would love to be proved wrong, especially if part of the proof included a trail to surviving parts.

happy landings
