I was just about to ask about this myself !
Possibly the long mentioned Siskin ?
Or a Demon?
Or a Fury?
Can't think of any others right now.
Don't know about the IL-2, but there's loads to choose from.
Not entirely relevant to the RAFM though, I'd put my money into acquiring an A20, several of which they could get hold of with very little work, or any one of the very many RAF types that are currently missing, even if they have to build a replica, any will do as long as the RAF used it in some capacity, even an RAF Invader (as pictured in the same mag).
Why is it that the RAFM goes a bit "funny" now and then and acquires completely irrelevant aircraft for the museum when there are still old RAF aircraft out there that need a good home, or at least types that saw service with the RAF??
Dornier 24, Mig15 and one or two others spring to mind, not to mention the Hudson,Mitchell,Fortress and Mustang that SHOULD be in RAF colours in an RAF Museum, the only likely museum that would ever display these types in RAF colours.......very very odd indeedy.
