Boeing 307 Down-- which is worse?

Ok, now that we have seen the photos or video footage of the Boeing 307 down in Puget Sound, I was wondering what is a worse scenario for the rebuilding of this aircraft, a water landing or belly landing on the shore?
A belly landing on the shore would have potentially caused serious damage to the wings, main spar, engines, props, etc. and likely had a post crash fire. Not to mention any damage from hitting structures such as cars, or buildings.
A water landing seems to be gentler on the airframe, but now since it has been immersed in salt water, every component will need to be cleaned, rebuilt, and inspected.
I remember when the Collings Foundation's Corsair went down off of Florida, it suffered salt damage, even though the airframe was only in the water a short period of time.
Any opinions? Can some of the aircraft restorer?s here comment?
