Elliott,

If all goes well during the summer or fall the smal lake in question is going to be deepened.

We hope to recover the last remains left on the lakebed. The lake is very shallow (about 1.5 m) so it is more a case of walking through it and if you find anything using the mark I human foot, take a deep breath and bend over to pick up whatever it is.

When the aircraft crashed the engines were found in the dunes nearby, so they have gone, however we did find the engineplate of one of the Merlin X's as well as a fragment of one of the mounting points.

The tailgunner is still listed missing and his name is inscribed at Runnymede. The area surrounding the lake is swampy so it could be possible that parts are here to be found but it is extremely difficult terrain to walk on (in).

We will hopefully know more later this year.

What identity will your Whitley be having. Any updates on the work so far?

Cees
