Last time I looked, Me, Norfolk Tom and the real Mickoy were going after Shangri-La, or what remains of her. Mick, true to his bloodhound form, identified a new, and to my mind utterly convincing final resting place for what remains of the airframe, so as far as Farmers ponds are concerned, feel free to look in them, there will be something there.
Mick , Tom and Phil know my feelings on large lakes near airfields. As Elliot knows, the large bit of Lagoon at the end of a Scots runway, saw the arrival of various Whitleys while they were based there. It's strange, how magnetic bodies of water can be -lol. I identified a Hurricane and a Vengeance in a lake in Sri Lanka, merely a V1+engine failure+last best move away from the current Sri Lankan AF museum.
The poster does make some interesting points. Some years ago , I was tempted to put an advert in Farmers weekly, asking what they had in Barns and Ponds, but, with the advent of the internet, all I need to do, is find a forum, where the bast*rds are all moaning about being down to their last 2 Range Rovers, and their whopping EEC subsidy cheques are late. B4 anyone starts, I know some farmers have it rough.
So, like an archaelogical mate of mine , whose theory is to dig round old oak trees at crossroads to find treasure (It's worked twice so far,) I think that looking at lakes near runways, and big lakes on Private land is a must.
If anyone looked at the abandoned airfields site Iposted, one or 2 of those airfields, have lakes and wooded areas and all sorts, well worth a look.
