Thanks for the links, and I'm very glad to read that the pilot isn't seriously hurt, but there is something about some of these reports that really does bother me. Take a read of these snippets:
"A small civilian plane... The Thunderbolt is a World War Two vintage military aircraft, that's propeller-driven."
"A Sunport spokesperson says something happened as the pilot tried to take off, and the plane caught fire."
Now, is it just me, or is this a classic case of ignorant reporters writing utter crap just to fill the page? You can almost hear the conversation between editor and journalist;
Ed - get yourself down to the airport, there's been a plane crash
Journo - Oh goody, I don't know a damn thing about aircraft but there's bound to be lots of carnage and the chance to make my reputation on the back of human suffering...
Journo arrives at airport, finds there's a minor accident, pilot suffered slight burns but otherwise okay, and so he's now faced with writing a piece about something he couldn't give a toss about because there's nothing in it for him, but he's got to add a couple of factual bits to make it look like he cares. Reading the snippets above, you can almost feel his disappointment that he's not reporting on a fatality.
Bit of advice for journalists - if you neither care nor know about the subject, don't bloody write about it. God these people annoy me.
