: hi to all
: some years ago myself and another had a meeting with the e
: x -RAF Corparal who was reponsible for burying 4 merlin en
: gines,2 griffon ,1 bristol hercules and a napier sabre.
: He still had in his possession the air ministry order stat
: ing what he had to arrange, how to dispose etc etc, this we
: were shown and was dated 1948.
: After a series of meetings when he was convinced that we w
: ere genuine he then proceeded to show us where the engines
: were buried also along this site was a fuselage that had
: been removed from the factory and he told us that it had b
: een damaged so was of no further use to the RAF.
: I researched the area using RAF photo reconn photo's and i
: n one of them showed the area of the pit and even though i
: t had been taken 3 years after the burying of the engines
: the pit showed up very well,40 yrs later nothing had reall
: y grown over the site and after a soil sample had been tak
: en and other tests it was safely assumed something of a fu
: el and oil based item or items were there.
: We knew that they were about 15 ft down and also readings
: from the detector also gave us hope on the fuselage site,n
: ow it was all in the hands of the council legal dept.
: after about 2 yrs it was all ready to be signed and sealed
: ,everybody was happy etc until the castle vale trust was f
: ormed then it all went pear shaped.
: We then had to start all over again with meetings with the
: trusts executives, showing them the site, all the findings
: etc this went on for just over a year and was led to belie
: ve all was going to go ahead as planned when we were then
: to told the housing trust had decided that the engines wer
: e of historical intrest to the localilty,and worth a lot m
: ore in financial gain to the community,so they themselves
: were going to dig them up .
: Despite them being told that the engines being buried for
: so long and that even a representative from rolls royce ha
: d stated that in his personnel view he doubted that they w
: ould ever be of any use other than static due to the type
: of surrounding soil the trust was still of the stupid thou
: ght they could sell the engines for around ?100,000 each!!
: .
: Unfortunatly they are still there rotting away because of
: thwe decision made by 2 very stupid and money grabbing id
: iots who only saw pound signs and looked as far as the end
: of their dicks.
: I hope the above will help with your questions about the r
: umours of the buried treasures of castle bromwich.
: I personnly know and have been given proof of 4 sites on t
: he old airfield and 2 in the factory area.
: : Hi Cees,
: : I live 4 miles from the site, and the story is true to a
: c
: : ertain extent. Birmingham council are aware of material
: st
: : ill remaining on site. I spoke to an eminent local histo
: ri
: : an, who confirms that something, remains on site. I beli
: ve
: : , there were also rudder posts visible in the ground nea
: r
: : the Jaguar plant, until fairly recently...
: :
: : There is more, but I need to check on it first
