There was a thread a little while back, asking about the identity of the Invader that was mounted on a roof in Oshawa near the busy 401 highway. Here is what I have...
Model: Douglas A-26B-66-DL Invader
S/N: 44-34659 (USAAF)
C/N: 27938
History: 44-34659 (USAAF), N9163Z
I believe the Invader was removed around 1998. The long time owners were Mackie Transportation (a moving company) who owned the building, but I believe Seaway Marine sold the plane when they bought the building. My undertanding is that is is now in Brantford undergoing restoration.
BTW... I obtained the identity of the airframe from a Warbirds International article of a few years back. I the article said the Invader was a desert queen (little service history), and it only operated under the c/r N9163Z for a short time before arriving on the roof of Mackie Transportation. I photographed the plane in 1996 from near the base of the building. It was obvious the were no engines and the props were fakes.
Regards,
Mike
