Canadian Westland Lysanders - And a Shock for NASM!"

Mike..

In answer to your questions..

NASM Lysander: This was never issued to the RAF, as it was one of the Canadian constructed ones (as it's Construction Number is 1185 then I assume it was built in around 1942
in Toronto, Ontario by National Steel Car.

Believed RCAF 2346.. But I have no way of checking this

see: http://www.canadianflight.org/collect/col_20.htm

for my reference which is based on : Serial: 1194, RCAF 2349, Manufactured: 1942)

The reason for N7791 - This is PROBABLY the North American Private Plane registry number allocated around 1973 when it was to be a 'Flyer'. N7791 was NOT an RAF Number, it is a 'Black Out Block' in the middle of a run of Miles Master I's..

The only prob. I have is with the NASM painting as such! They are usually such sticklers for historical accuracy!!!

I think Mr Dan Hagedorn needs to know!!

But as I know staff from NSAM post here we should get a response!

Secondly the Sabena Old Timers one IS V9546 it is only painted as 'V9673' - The real V9673 went missing on a an agent pick up on 10.12.1943.

V9546 was build at Yeovil with Construction Number Y1536.. As it used most of RCAF 2442, (as well as parts from 2341, and 2360) then this is the nearest ID we are going to get!
