In reply top aircraft remains found during taxiway work at chino? posted by martin collins on Fri Mar 08, 2002 09:47:10 PM

There has been no evidence that I am aware of that any aircraft are buried at Chino Airport. When the aircraft were smelted to recover the aluminum, the steel parts didn't melt and were simply bulldozed into the ground to dispose of them. Enthusiasts have been digging holes in various areas of Chino Airport and have been finding engine valves and smaller components for years. Now some bigger parts have come to light, like P-39 landing gear legs and B-24 armor plate sections, ammunition chutes, P-47 exhaust components, etc.
