DC-3 Arrives at Flight Museum in Hawthorne

A DC-3 has become the newest exhibit at the Western Museum of Flight in Hawthorne. The vintage Douglas airplane is on loan from the California Science Center and carries the markings "Spirit of 76," having served as an oil industry executive aircraft.

The DC-3 joins a collection that includes the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, North American F-86 Sabre Jet, Grumman F-14 Tomcat, Northrop YF-17 Cobra (prototype of the F/A-18 Hornet) and Northrop F-5.

The Western Museum of Flight is located at the corner of 120th St. and Prairie Ave., adjacent to Jack Northrop Field, Hawthorne Municipal Airport. It is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a donation of $3 suggested as admission.
