Say at Kingman, AZ a flatbed trailer with a wrapped up (in blue) FA-18 Hornet, turning off Interstate 40 into Kingman.
It was too dark already when I made it to the field, but my curiosity got piqued. Anyone know if there is a modification center in Kingman? I know there is one for wing mods at Williams Gateway in Mesa. Kingman also has several airliners stored.
checked Tehachapi airport, nothing visible there. Same goes for Flagstaff, AZ and Tucumcari, NM.
In TX, checked Amarillo, Tulia, Plainview, Floydada, Spur, Avoca, Eastland and Dublin, but nothing there. Not even one single airplane out in the fields!
Also stopped by Mojave (about 15 MB-326s) for the civilian test pilot school (11 or 12 disassembled) all former SAF; four QF-4 Phantoms in the fligtline plus the one that stands in front of BAE Systems; also saw (could not take picture due to angle and distance) an F-100, an S-2 Tracker, plus the F-86s and T-33s of Flight Systems. Also interesting to see, the L-1011 of Orbital, the company that intends to launch a satellite from the airplane.
In Barstow, CA, met a guy who says he helped clean a barn (YES< A BARN!) of BT-13s and other assorted aviation stuff; the sons of the deceased owner had no clue what they had, and half of everything had already gone to the dumpster and was not recoverable.
Also got some leads regarding 2 PV-2s, a couple of T-28s, a DC-3, but I will have to check them out and try to contact the names I was given.
Will keep y'all posted, y'hear!
Tulio, back home in Texas, Yeee-haaw!!!
