Found some detailed walk round shots of the Danish Spit IX on a modellers site (You've really missed some goings on at such sites recently guys - talk about blood on the dance floor)for one that I'm making at the moment and the page said..............
"This picture is showing a Danish Spitfire F Mk IXc, born as a F Mk Vc and rebuilt. The engine is a Merlin series 70. Danish serial 401. Not the real 401 though, as that one crashed. This is an instructional airframe and never flew in Denmark, actual number FMS m4 originally MA298 6462m)."
Now WW Directory lists this as NH417 which was the identity of 41-401 which is what this a/c is painted as.
Few questions
is MA298 it's real identity?
if it is is this fact well known?
or was MA298 reserialed as NH417 when converted from V to IX - unlikely I would have thought
have I publicised some "new" information?
Comments welcome
