The Cuerpo de Aeronautica Militar (CAM) in Guatemala, ordered 10 Waco UPF-7s (not YPF as many quote) for service in the Guatemalan air arm. They were equipped as "fighters" and had two machine guns mounted on the cowling as well as having one mounted on the right wing.

The front cockpit was enclosed, and the aircraft could be flown as single seaters.

Their most memorable mission was a good will flight to the Panama Canal Zone during the first half of 1938.

A lone example survives in the inventory of the Guatemalan Air Force (FAG-21) although it is not being flown anymore because of structural problems. I have been working for over 3 years now researching the 1939 - 1940 era in the Guatemalan Aviation Corps. I could provide you if you are really interested, with some serial numbers and illustrations.

Lastly, I would like to invite you to visit:

www.laahs.com

there is an article there, titled:

Waco warplanes of Latin America

that I am sure you will enjoy.

Saludos!!
