This 190 was at one time with the Rio Hondo Museum in Texas , along with several others recovered from Norway with co-operation with the Norwegian AFM . I doubt with the standard of the work they did it would be even close to flyable . Kissammees' F-8 also came form this source and has been under restoration to fly for the past several years . The A-3 returned to Norway was so poorly rebuilt the Norwegians are re doing most of it ;-0
The US hangar fire story is partially true ..... although the aircraft were basically new build so no 'history' lost as such. This was the company run by Mr Ahrens , who came to set up shop here in Christchurch , in order to rebuild the Hannas' 190A-8 wreck and produce several new build 190s [ one for Wanaka ] along with restoring the Me110s [ now in Berlin ]
A very long story which ended in Ahrens being deported from NZ back to the U.S. , where the FBI wanted a word about a possible insurance scam hangar fire ;-0
The Hannas and the AFC were wondering where their money was going with little or no result to show from it ... a police raid found that he was building an aircraft for himself on the second floor of the hangar !
