As I have a particular fascination for 8th AF Mustangs, as much as I do for all things Spitfire, and now that the history of Twilight Tear has been sorted, which I'm really glad about, I thought I would ask about another P51 that served with the 78th FG at Duxford, so here goes...
44-12125 is in the Militaire Luchtvaart Museum at Soesterburg, the Netherlands, marked as H-307.
It is listed in a couple of places including Kent Miller's books as having served with the 82nd FS 78th FG as MX-U or MX-V.
I have read somewhere that it is actually a composite airframe, so what I was wondering is, which Mustang does the main cockpit/fuselage section that carries the ID come from, is it from 12125 with the other bits coming from other Mustangs, or is it NOT ?
Just one of the 8th AF veterans and it's history that I'd like to nail down once and for all.
Cheers
Mick
