Orange Spitfires

Nice one Cees, Id always hoped that one of them had survived somehow.

Yes I do have both of Harry's books, so here we go, which one of the four owned by Shreiner do you think is the most likely....?

BS147 ; PH-NFN ; ex 3W-22 and H-99 RNAF ; TWO SEAT TRAINER.
Belly landed 4th May 57, under repair when all Spitfires were grounded. All four Spitfires were torched into pieces on the airfield (Texel ?)in August 57, collected by scrappy for his Haarlem scrapyard and last seen there, he later claimed that he had sold all Spitfires to German scrapyard, no proof forthcoming however.

MJ828 ; PH-NFR ; ex Canadian 416 Sqn RAF ; ex 3W-2 and H-30 RNAF ; grounded 4th June 57.

MK475 ; PH-NFO ; ex 56 Sqn, Canadian 402 Sqn and 64 Sqn RAF ; ex 3W-14 and H-28 RNAF; crashed 4th June 57, wings ripped off, fuselage rolled over several times with pilot inside, pilot OK, all Spitfires grounded after this crash.

PT986 ; PH-NFP ; ex Czech 313 Sqn RAF ; ex 3W-16 and H-27 RNAF; grounded 4th June 57 after crash of NFO, this one had it's engine run in the morning and torched into pieces in the afternoon !

Now then, if the one "in the barn" is NOT a two seater then it cuts out BS147.
If the fuselage is in pretty good "non-crashed" condition then it probably cuts out MK475 as well.

So we are obviously left with MJ828 and PT986 as likely contenders.

Is it confirmed that it was actually painted orange ?
Any word from Harry on this at all ?

Get out there Cees and find the bugger for us !
