Magnetos operate on low voltage until the coil, at which time high voltage is created that can readily jump a gap. For this reason, old magnetos may not fire if their points are corroded or pitted, or if other connections or grounds inside the magneto become corroded.

The problem with your fire pump magnetos is that they may not have a suitable vacuum and/or mechanical advance setup since they are designed for running at a constant RPM.

: Wierd huh?
