"My name is Gerald Lavigne and I am the brother of Gail Lavigne who owns the World War 2 museum in Tavistock.
I am the CEO of the Phoenix Foundation, USA. Looking back over the years when my sister has been trying to
convince people in the UK to help her with her museum and the shortsightedness of these people, I cannot
believe that they would not have such a museum in the West Country. There is no other museum of this type
in the region and the monies this would have generated for said region would have been a source of income
for a lot of people, not to mention income for the local tax base. I guess what I am trying to say is that
perhaps it's not too late to get something done in a positive manner to keep this fine institution from
leaving the country. Somebody has to come forward with the insight and the political clout to get this
museum to stay in the UK. Of course we still want to have a USA version of the Museum over here in the
states and we are moving towards that goal. I only hope some interest is generated over in the UK and that
we can have this resolved before it is too late. We, as a free people, have to show to someone what
people of the free world have sacrificed during these times of conflict and the only way to do this is to
create a legacy to those who fought and died to rid the world of tyranny. A case in point would be the
destruction of the concrete ramps in Devon that were used to load the ships for the invasion of Europe,
once they are gone so is a piece of history. So please, help us create something that people of the
West Country can be proud to have in their back yard, and as, like the ramps that launched the
"Invasion of Europe," it to will soon be gone.
Gerald Lavigne - USA - 25th May 2001 "

What is interesting is a company cannot call itself anything in the UK with the word Foundation in it UNLESS it is a Charitable concern! This rule obviously does not apply to the US!
