Someone told me about a burnt out Lanc at Petsamo, Karelia - apparently its very complete apart from the burnt out centre section - prob an ex-617 machine too. I heard a story about a lanc in a lake closer to home, but would like to see it for myself first!

: I know we've talked about Lancaster bits before but I'd re
: ally like to know if there would actually be enough bits a
: round to rebuild a complete composite Lanc to flying condi
: tion, using one of the 3 or 4 extant Lanc cockpits.
:
: From what I can see so far, usable wing sections appear to
: be rare or even non-existant, anyone know of any ?
:
: Any news on usable bits, such as fins and rudders, tailpla
: nes, cowlings, nacelles, spinners, undercarriage, wheels,
: engine bearers, turrets, fuselage sections, etc etc etc, w
: ould be extremely useful to know.
:
: I understand that the prop blades of the Lanc are the same
: as those used on the C47, but are the hubs the same ?
:
: I'd just love to be able to do the same with the Halifax,
: Stirling and Manchester, but I have a feeling that it woul
: d be extremely difficult.....to say the least!
