It was ten years ago yesterday....

Sorry for being a day late with this. But couldn't help and remember the first flight of TFC's dearly departed P-38 on January 11. It was a pretty awesome day at Chino, started out with a really neat seminar on the Boeing P-26 with three former pilots. Then after lunch it was time to fire the engines on the 38 and Steve Hinton took off on the aircraft's first flight since the late 40s or early 1950s. Along the way I also got to see the first engine runs of the airplane, in Dec 91 and met a WWII pilot who was based at the same Oklahoma field as this aircraft, and who may have flown it. It was a beautiful warm sunny day, much like it was today in SoCAl. A beautiful airplane. It was 14,000 man hours to get that thing in the air. It is very much missed and Hoof Proudfoot as well. Blue Skies forever.
