Spookly The following was just posted on the Air Britain forum
Subject: Licence built Bristol c/ns
Does anyone have any info on construction numbers (paper or
otherwise) for
a) Canadian built Fairchild Bolingbrokes, or
b) Australian built DAP Beauforts and Beaufighters.
Some publications have c/ns for certain Bolys e.g. 11-880-203 =
RCAF9073, 11-880-107 = RCAF9104, 11-880-264 = RCAF9947, 11-880-202 =
RCAF9983. I recently inspected two Bolys in the MARC compound at
Chino, reportedly RCAF 10073 and 10076. These both had plates
with "Serial Number 49302-456" and "Serial Number 49306-63", both
plates also had "DRG No. 9302--E" and "DRG No. 9306--E". The former
was an intact Boly, supposedly due for the General Patton Air Museum
in California, the latter was in sections, and is supposedly for the
Bristol Heritage Collection at Nashville. The only part with an RCAF
serial was a wing section with 10073 on it, so 10076 must be the
complete one.
The compound also contained several DAP Beaufort bits, including two
tail sections. Only one plate was in a readable position, it
had "Serial No. SF182" and "DRG No. 81960". The ADF Serial looked
like A9-1?2, where the ? could have been an 8. The other tail section
was from A9-574.
Can anyone help with what these mean, and what is the "DRG No."?
