Hi all,
Interesting topic.
I agree that both magazines are very interesting and I usually cannot wait till the new issues are out. Aeroplane Monthly has remained fairly stable in my opinion.
But FlyPast has changed a great deal over the past ten years or so. When it first started it had a lot of coverage of aviation archeology (as you know my main activity). About ten years or so this has gotten less and less and has almost completely dissapeared from its pages apart from small news-items or the odd article when something big has been recovered. FP did get me started in this business in the first place (I didn't even know then that remains of aircraft could be found in the ground, let alone those of WWII).
Some years ago I read somewhere that the editor of FlyPast didn't want anything to do with Aviation Archeology anymore. In fact when Ken Delve was editor I thought that they going downhill at a fast rate. Things have improved somewhat, but a magazine like Warbirds Worldwide is sorely missed.
This view is purely personal and shouln't be taken as an insult to anyone.
Cheers
Cees
