unknown P-51 parts, can anyone help?

Hi all,

I have posted 5 pictures of one piece of Dean's P-51 B1A Mustang, serial # 43-12252, manufactured on September 29, 1943. They are located at:

I would like very much to to find out something about each of the pieces I have. I am planning to display them, perhaps in a bookcase, and I would dearly love to know if not, what they are, perhaps, where in the plane they were located. I will put a new piece on every couple of days, as long as you all don't mind giving me your most knowledgable opinions!

This piece is approximately 6" X 18", and very heavy. I am guessing it is solid steel. The extreme close up is an effort to capture what looks like paint but could be corosion. Thanks to you all.
