As a member of the UK Large Model Association & a keen R/C flyer at present I don't think there is a restriction on size other than what it is practical to build/transport.
To my knowledge currently the largest is the Belgian B-29 which is approaching 32 ft wingspan & even uses on board telementry.
All models over 20kg have to be rigoursly inspected by LMA officials (who are in turn approved by CAA) to make sure they are airworthy - then flight tests in front of inspectors take place before these large models can be flown in public.
LMA url is included. Personally I fly an exact 1/6 scale P-51 as a tribute to the 361st Fg and it can be seen by going to www.361fg.com & then visiting the r/c model section. The 1/6 scale Liberator flown by John Deacon as mentioned in the other posts can be seen at www.usaaf.co.uk
Please feel free to e-mail me for more info.
