Hi Guys!

O.K. here is what I know concerning the crash.

Dean was flying into an afternoon sun at 5:10 P.M., when for an undetermined reason his plane slowly lost altitude, and crashed into the lake. It exploded on impact, burned, and sank immediately. If you look at the picture of the crash site, you can see a white bar of sand, about midway through the water. This is where the plane was found. The impact crater is still there. It is all sand. The plane was facing the shore, and I am told pieces were being recovered back to the tree line, which would be about 100-200 yards from the impact. There is a piece of the wing on the flatbed. You can see the opening where the gascap once was. There was still paint visible from the walkway strip next to the cabin. I have a box full of parts which I am going to photograph later on today, and put them on the web shots site. I would love opinions on what they may be. I have given a friend a piece which is believed to have come from under the seat, and as I said I have the rudder pedal. From everything I am being told, this plane disintegrated on impact. I am intrigued by the prospect of other pieces of her being out there somewhere. The lake was combed pretty thoroughly. All the people involved in the recovery have been wonderful. I am going to get out the accident report and go over it again, I will let you all know if I find anything new. As I keep repeating thank you all so much, you guys really are the greatest!
Karen
