Good morning Mick,

Thank you so much! That clarifies a lot for me.

O.k., I know for certain, Mr. Wisler does NOT have the data plate, nor do we. All I do have is a parts plate, with the NAA stamp on it. Therefore, either the data plate was removed in 1947 when the engine, and other parts were removed from the lake, or it is still in the lake. If it was removed, would the government have kept it?

I agree completely with you on allowing "new" historical aircraft to be built, with the provisions you mention. It was my understanding that for this to happen at least one piece of the original aircraft must be included. Is this not correct? I rather like that idea, as you mention, at least the spirit of the original plane would remain. If we could ever find someone to rebuild Dean's serial #, I would gladly donate a piece of the wreckage I possess, provided her history was maintained.

I must state again, I KNOW it was never the intention of the local authorities, who donated the parts to Mr. Wisler, that they be sold as souvenirs, on Ebay. They were to be sold for a restoration project only!

I do thank you so very much for your input on this, I have learned so much from all of you, and I am very grateful!
Best wishes,
Karen
